Public Briefing To Discuss Lower Shoalhaven River CMP

Shoalhaven residents are invited to attend a public briefing this week to discuss the Lower Shoalhaven River Coastal Management Program (CMP).

At the Ordinary Meeting on 17 June 2025, Council resolved to hold the briefing to consider several potential amendments to the draft CMP.

The public briefing will be held at the Council chambers inside the Nowra Administration Building from 4:30pm on Thursday 14 August. The briefing will also be live-streamed for those who are not able to attend in person.

The CMP is a long-term strategy that outlines actions to manage coastal hazards, protect ecological and cultural values, support sustainable development, enhance recreational access, and adapt to challenges like climate change and population growth.

The Lower Shoalhaven River CMP proposes around 60 targeted management actions, including measures like erosion control, habitat restoration, and improved public access.

The actions aim to address key environmental and community concerns and were developed following extensive public consultation since the project began in 2018.
