Public Hearing on Counter-Terrorism Bills

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) will hold a public hearing for its review of the Counter-Terrorism (Temporary Exclusion Orders) Bill 2019 on Friday, 15 March 2019 in Canberra.

The Bill introduces a temporary exclusion orders scheme to delay and manage the return of Australian citizens leaving overseas conflict zones, and to enable authorities to monitor their movements and activities once they return.

The PJCIS will hear from the Law Council of Australia, the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security, the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Department of Home Affairs.

The Committee will also discuss the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment Bill 2019 with the Department of Home Affairs and the Attorney-General's Department.
