The Tasmanian Government is focused on building safer and more efficient roads all around the State.
As part of this, we are seeking community feedback on the next stage of Tasman Highway upgrades at the Sideling.
The upgrades will be delivered between Minstone Road, Scottsdale, and St Patricks River Bridge, as part of a combined $120 million commitment from the Australian and Tasmanian Governments.
The works will include widening and straightening sections of the road, sealing the road shoulders, and improving passing opportunities at several locations.
Minister for Infrastructure, Kerry Vincent, said the Tasmanian Government was focused on delivering better roads so that Tasmanians can get home to their loved ones safer and sooner.
"Having completed the first 4.6-kilometre section of Sideling upgrades in April last year, we are pleased to share our plans for the next stage of upgrades to further improve safety and economic benefits through the region," Minister Vincent said.
"The upgrades will deliver a safer and comfortable journey for all road users, while also improving travel time reliability and productivity along the route for the freight industry and heavy vehicle operators.
"The pipeline of road works across the State is a positive part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future."
The public can view and provide feedback on the designs from Tuesday, 20 May 2025 to Sunday, 8 June 2025 online here or in person at Dorset Council offices (3 Ellenor Street, Scottsdale).
Information sessions with the project team will also provide community members with the opportunity to view the designs and ask questions in-person. The sessions will be held on Thursday 22 May 2025 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Springfield Hall (20 South Springfield Road, Springfield), and Saturday, 24 May 2025 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Woolworths Scottsdale (1 Victoria Street, Scottsdale).
Feedback gained during the consultation period will be used to prioritise improvements and further develop the designs for these vital upgrades.
