Pursuit Ends in Crash, Critical Incident in Bradbury

A critical incident investigation is underway following a pursuit and crash in south-west Sydney overnight.

Officers attached to Campbelltown Highway Patrol attempted to stop a motorcycle about 11.20pm (Friday 6 March 2026), after it was seen allegedly speeding on St Johns Road at Bradbury.

When the rider allegedly failed to stop when directed, a pursuit was initiated; however, the bike crashed less than 30 seconds later.

A 15-year-old girl – who was riding pillon – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for leg injuries. She was taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead where she is undergoing surgery. Her injuries are not reported to be life-threatening.

The rider – a 17-year-old boy – suffered minor injuries and remains in Liverpool Hospital under police guard.

Police will allege the rider – who was wearing a balaclava but no helmet – returned positive roadside tests for both alcohol and cannabis. Checks revealed he was suspended learner-rider.

The boy has now been charged with seven offences,

  • Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm
  • Fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact occasioning grievous bodily harm
  • Drive with low-range PCA
  • Ride motorbike not wear securely-fitted approved helmet
  • Learner exceed speed limit by more than 30kmh (not more than 45kmh)
  • Learner drive motorbike carry person other than learner, and
  • Use class a vehicle number plate obscured/defaced.

The youth has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta (Bail Division) Children's Court today.

Inquiries are continuing and further charges may be laid.

A Critical Incident Team from Burwood Police Area Command will lead the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Specialist officers attached to the Crash investigation Unit (CIU) are conducting inquiries into the crash.

The investigation will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).
