Pursuit Leads To Arrest At Lewiston

A man was arrested after a police pursuit with a stolen 4WD at Lewiston last night.

Police sighted a stolen grey Nissan Patrol at Riverlea Park just after 7pm on Thursday 2 April. The Nissan had been stolen from a rural business at Korunye earlier this week.

The stolen Nissan was pursued along Port Wakefield Highway and onto Angle Vale Road before PolAir commenced tracking the vehicle around the areas of Two Wells, Korunye and Lewiston.

Patrols were able to spike the car's tyres on Goss Road, Lewiston but it continued and drove through a fence into a paddock on Pederick Road, Lewiston. The driver attempted to run but was arrested in a nearby glasshouse.

A 19-year-old man from Riverlea Park was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and drive dangerous to escape police. His is facing further charges of serious criminal trespass and theft in relation to break-ins at Korunye and a sporting club at Reeves Plains, where he allegedly stole a fuel tank containing diesel.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The stolen 4WD was towed from the scene for forensic examination.

Investigations are continuing.
