Putting Safety First In Prahran

In 2026, the City of Stonnington is prioritising pedestrian safety by raising four Little Chapel Street pedestrian crossings and building new raised crossings on Little Chapel Street (at Malvern Road), on King Street (east of Clifton Street), and on Bangs Street (connecting the park to homes opposite).

The works, funded through the Australian Government's Black Spot Program, will make it safer for people to cross these busy streets by reducing vehicle speeds and making it easier for drivers to see pedestrians using the crossings.

Building the new raised crossings will require the removal of some parking spaces – one at the Bangs Street crossing and one at the King Street crossing. A loading zone on King Street will also need to be relocated and, subject to community feedback, may be converted to a parking space.
