Aspiring early childhood educators across the Northern Territory (NT) can now apply for the Quality First: Early Years Scholarships delivering on our targeted investment under the Safe Start Strong Futures Plan. The scholarships will provide financial support to help up to 25 Territorians gain the qualifications needed to build rewarding careers shaping the lives of young children.
Administered by the Department of Education and Training, the scholarships are available to students studying with any NT registered training organisation creating pathways to real jobs. The scholarships support study towards:
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education - $5,000 per year for up to four yearsDiploma of Early Childhood Education and Care - a one-off scholarship of $5,000Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care - a one-off scholarship of $5,000
The initiative aims to support the Territory to grow a skilled and sustainable early childhood workforce by reducing the financial barriers associated with studying.
Department of Education and Training Chief Executive Aderyn Chatterton said investing in the people who educate and care for young children is an investment in the Territory's future.
"Early childhood educators play one of the most important roles in our community, laying the foundations for children's learning, wellbeing and lifelong success.
"The scholarships will help attract more people into the profession while supporting those already pursuing a qualification.
"This practical financial support allows more Territorians to focus on their studies and take the next step towards a rewarding career in early childhood education.
"We're creating more pathways into the profession and helping build the workforce for our children, families and communities now and into the future."
