ClubGRANTS is one of Australia's largest grant programs, providing more than $100 million a year to worthy causes, to charities and not-for-profit groups across NSW.
The Queanbeyan-Palerang ClubGRANTS Committee is made up of four local clubs: Campbell & George, Queanbeyan Kangaroos Rugby League Football Club, Queanbeyan Leagues Club and Queanbeyan Tigers Australian Football Club.
This year, the Committee selected 33 projects worth around $408,000 in total, to receive either full or partial funding under the annual Category 1 funding round. The 33 projects will provide community welfare and social services, with the aim of improving the living standards and welfare of low income and disadvantaged people.
The clubs have been able to support a wide range of programs for the benefit of the local community. Some of the programs and organisations funded include:
- Kinder & Co Playgroup, Braidwood - weekly playgroup to enhance the development and socialisation of children 0-3 years of age, and support parents with education workshops and community connections.
- St Benedicts Community Centre - free hot meals and other food relief in Queanbeyan, with a special focus on those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
- Foodbank NSW & ACT - delivery of 230 school holiday food hampers, containing pantry staples to children experiencing significant financial hardship across the Queanbeyan-Palerang region
- The Shepherd Centre for Deaf Children First Sounds Cochlear Implant Program - life-changing clinical support for deaf children and their families in Queanbeyan-Palerang.
- Vision Australia - Early intervention support for Queanbeyan-Palerang residents diagnosed with incurable vision loss.
- SHINE For Kids Co-operative Pty Ltd - Program for local children with a parent in prison, including individual case management and child-friendly prison visits for children.
The Queanbeyan-Palerang ClubGRANTS Committee would like to thank all groups who took the time to apply for this year's round and encourage those who missed out to apply again next year.
