The Australian Army has continued Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Canberra with Royal Military College - Duntroon's Queen's Birthday Parade on Saturday, 11 June.

The Corps of Staff Cadets performed a traditional 'trooping the colour', joined by Army leaders, dignitaries, family and friends.

Recently returned from representing Australia at Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (retd), was the reviewing officer for the parade.

The Commandant of the Royal Military College of Australia, Brigadier Ana Duncan, AM CSC, said taking part in the Queen's Birthday Parade in the year of the Platinum Jubilee was an incredible honour.

"Trooping the colour is a great privilege for our Staff Cadets, even more so this year as the Queen becomes our first Monarch to reach 70 years of dedicated service," Brigadier Duncan said.

Brigadier Duncan said the Queen's Colour on the parade ground represents the presence of Her Majesty The Queen herself.

"Our Staff Cadets on parade today will cherish this once in a generation occasion as a career highlight, adding to the College's rich history," she said.

Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Rick Burr AO DSC MVO, said there is much to learn from Her Majesty as Army prepares its people to be future ready.

"The Queen's Birthday Parade gives cause to reflect on the extraordinary influence Her Majesty has had on generations of young leaders here in Australia and around the world," Lieutenant General Burr said.

"The Queen has been a steadfast figure during difficult times, demonstrating high ideals, selfless and unwavering commitment to service - remarkable characteristics to which every young officer can aspire to."

"We recognise our people are at the centre of everything we do, and helping them achieve their potential as future leaders is our priority."

Situated at the former Campbell homestead at Duntroon, the college was opened in 1911 to oversee the initial military training of all officers in the Australian Army.

Official Platinum Jubilee celebrations were held in Australia between 2 to 5 June 2022 with many iconic buildings in Canberra and across the country illuminated in purple.
