The Borough of Queenscliffe Council has today announced the appointment of Jane Grover as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a comprehensive recruitment process.
Ms Grover brings extensive executive leadership experience across both the public and private sectors, with a strong track record in organisational transformation, governance, financial stewardship, community engagement, and service delivery.
Mayor Cr Donnie Grigau said Councillors are confident Ms Grover is exceptionally well suited to lead the organisation at this important time.
"Jane is a highly experienced and values-driven executive who understands the particular challenges faced by small coastal councils," Cr Grigau said. "Her background in leading complex organisations, managing ageing assets, balancing community expectations, and maintaining long-term financial sustainability aligns strongly with the needs of the Borough of Queenscliffe."
Ms Grover previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, where she led significant cultural, operational, and financial reform over many years. She has also held senior executive roles in large, highly regulated organisations, bringing a strong focus on community consultation, governance, and service delivery.
Cr Grigau said Ms Grover's appointment followed an extensive recruitment process that included external executive search support, rigorous assessment, and detailed referee checks.
"Council was focused on appointing a CEO with proven leadership and project management capability, sound judgment, and the ability to work constructively with Councillors, staff, and the community," he said.
"Jane demonstrated a clear understanding of Queenscliffe's unique character and a strong commitment to listening, stewardship, transparency, and disciplined decision-making."
Ms Grover said she was honoured to be appointed in a community with such rich history and strong civic spirit. "I am committed to working alongside Council and our community to strengthen services and deliver on our strategic goals, to ensure Queenscliffe remains a vibrant place to live, work, and visit. Ms Grover will commence in the role on 16 March 2026. Her immediate focus will be on continuity of services, strategic alignment with Council goals, and building strong relationships across the organisation and community, following the completion of contractual arrangements.
