A new commissioning fund will boost Queensland's reputation as a creative powerhouse by investing in ambitious Queensland-made creative work that will premiere on the runway to the State's biggest event, the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering the Queensland Major Commissioning Fund which will provide matched funding of up to $250,000 over two years to support the production and presentation of large-scale creative works that showcase Queensland artists, organisations and stories.
It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future after a decade of decline under Labor.
The Fund will empower established arts and cultural producers and organisations to platform Queensland, including engaging high-profile talent to collaborate with.
An additional $10,000 will be available to support costs associated with increasing access for artists and/or audiences with disability.
The Fund is aimed at arts and cultural producers and organisations with a track record in the commissioning, development and presentation of works of scale and significance.
Eligible works must be in an advanced stage of concept development, with first presentations by December 2028.
Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the Fund would help establish Queensland as the events capital of Australia.
"This is where big Queensland ideas come to life," Minister Langbroek said. "The Fund is about encouraging arts and cultural producers and organisations to deliver on their vision for bold new works.
"In the lead up to the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics, the Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan to transform arts experiences that will put Queensland up in lights.
