The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future and a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, after accelerating convenience for more of the State's professional drivers and their passengers.
More than 56,000 taxi, rideshare, limousine and bus drivers can now access and use their credentials in the Queensland Digital Licence app.
The Crisafulli Government's rollout of digital credentials ends several years of delays in the delivery of digital licences under the former Labor Government during their decade of decline.
Meeting strict safety and suitability standards, certified drivers play a crucial role across the State in providing safe, reliable, and professional transport options for Queenslanders and visitors to our state.
Taxi, rideshare, limousine and bus drivers will now have access to the app's industry-leading security measures including:
protecting private information, reducing the risk of identity theft and fraud
storing multiple licences safely and securely in one place
understanding their licence status, whether it is active, up for renewal or expired
This latest addition builds on the successful integration of driver trainer and motorcycle rider trainer, tow truck driver and pilot and escort vehicle driver accreditations into the Digital Licence app.
It also follows the integration of nine QBCC licences into the app, available to more than 105,000 tradies.
The Digital Licence app, which also provides access to digital driver licences and recreational marine licences has been adopted by more than 1.25 million Queenslanders.
Minister for Customer Services and Open Data Steve Minnikin said the inclusion of taxi, rideshare, limousine and bus driver credentials in the Queensland Digital Licence app demonstrated the Crisafulli Government's commitment to delivering modern, user-friendly services for Queenslanders.
"By bringing these licences into the digital space, we're making it easier for drivers to access and use their credentials securely," Minister Minnikin said.
"This is about giving Queenslanders more choice when it comes to accessing government services, whether they prefer the traditional approach or the convenience of digital solutions."
More credentials will be added to the Queensland Digital Licence app throughout 2026.
