- The Deputy Premier has approved a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation for the Royal Queensland Golf Club.
- This project will deliver a new 9-hole golf course, pavilion and upgrades to the existing golf course to support the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Queenslanders have now seen 10 months of delivery under the Crisafulli Government after 1,200 days of Labor Games chaos during their decade of decline.
The Crisafulli Government is supporting the delivery of world-class sport facilities ahead of the 2032 Games, giving the green light for critical upgrades to the Royal Queensland Golf Club in Eagle Farm.
The Deputy Premier today approved a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) for the Royal Queensland Golf Club Master Plan, which would deliver a world-class venue in time for the Club to host golfing events at the 2032 Games.
After 1,200 days of Labor Games chaos, the Crisafulli Government is delivering for 2032 and beyond, ensuring the Games deliver a generational infrastructure legacy across Queensland.
The new additions will include a new championship-quality nine-hole golf course, an Eastern Pavilion, amenities and undercover deck, an administration building, kiosk and outdoor racquet sport facilities.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the Crisafulli Government was committed to delivering legacy infrastructure for 2032 and beyond after a decade of Labor decline.
"After 1,200 days of Labor Games chaos, the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job of delivering generational infrastructure projects for 2032 and beyond," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"These critical upgrades to the Royal Queensland Golf Club will deliver a world-class golf facility to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
"This will also provide a legacy for the golf course and provides for active transport for the broader community along the river frontage into the future."
Member for Clayfield Tim Nicholls said in ten months, the Crisafulli Government had turned around the decade of decline that was the hallmark of the previous Labor Government.
"Giving the Royal Queensland Golf Club a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation overcomes the indifference and incompetence of the previous Labor Government and will return the land to the east of the Gateway bridges to golfing, which is precisely what is needed," Mr Nicholls said.
"This allows the Club to do what the community on Brisbane's northside have told me for ten years should occur on this land."
Royal Queensland Golf Club president Robert McAfee said the eastern redevelopment would help position the Club for the future.
"Our Club has more than 100 years of history, and this project returns golf to the site of our original course while positioning the Club for the future," Mr McAfee said.
"We thank the Queensland Government for its support in enabling this next chapter for our Club to commence."
The Crisafulli Government's 2032 Delivery Plan identified Royal Queensland Golf Club as a potential, existing venue for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
