Queensland Police Help Flying Doctors Soar With $13,500 Boost

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has proudly donated $13,500 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in Townsville, supporting one of Queensland's most critical emergency health providers.

The funds, raised at the annual Townsville Police District Ball, will directly assist the RFDS to continue delivering lifesaving primary healthcare services to rural and regional North Queenslanders.

Chief Inspector Roger Whyte said the RFDS was a trusted partner in the QPS' efforts to protect and serve communities in the most remote corners of the State.

"QPS members routinely work shoulder-to-shoulder with the RFDS during critical incidents in rural areas, from responding to roadside emergencies and coordinating critical aeromedical evacuations, often where access to medical services is hours away," Chief Inspector Whyte said.

"The Townsville Police District Ball provided a great opportunity for QPS officers and their families to acknowledge our shared mission and deep respect for the frontline role the RFDS in regional Queensland through donations collected on the night," he said.

The ball is an annual reminder that when we come together, we not only strengthen our own morale but also contribute to the health and safety of the communities we proudly serve."

Elizabeth Ferrier of the RFDS Townsville said the donation was a powerful show of solidarity and practical support from the QPS.

"The RFDS is often the only link to critical health services for remote Queenslanders, so every dollar raised helps us stay in the air, save lives and ensure families in rural communities can access the care they deserve," she said.

"We're deeply grateful to the Queensland Police Service for standing with us and for their show of support at the Townsville Police District Ball by raising this $13,500 boost for our service."
