Queensland Police Seek Help in Gladstone Attempted Murder Probe

Detectives investigating an alleged stabbing at Barney Point in Gladstone on August 3 have released an image of a 23-year-old man wanted in relation to the incident.

It will be alleged officers were called to the Brisbane Street property at approximately 11.40pm following reports of an altercation.

Police will allege Matthew Defreitas (pictured) was a primary offender involved in the incident, with detectives now appealing for the 23-year-old man to surrender himself to police.

He is described as Caucasian with a slim build, dark brown hair and is approximately 175cm tall with a proportionate build.

Anyone who sees Mr Defreitas is urged not to approach him and to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Investigations are continuing into whether the man was being hidden from police and may have assisted with his possible move to Victoria.

A 30-year-old South Gladstone man was charged with one count of attempted murder earlier this month.

Investigations are ongoing.
