  • The Crisafulli Government's trade reset has delivered thousands of jobs across Queensland as exports and investment values surge.
  • Queensland's global trade agency has already smashed its targets with the Crisafulli Government's $5 billion trade and investment milestone reached within reach this year.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy and a plan for Queensland's future, after a decade of decline under Labor.

The Crisafulli Government has delivered thousands of new jobs across Queensland by helping new and emerging exporters grow on the world stage after the former Labor Government left the State's international reputation in tatters.

Under the Crisafulli Government, more than 3,000 jobs have been created for Queenslanders through companies which have been helped by Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ).

TIQ has smashed its financial year targets already, delivering $812 million in exports and more than $1.5 billion in foreign investment outcomes to the end of March.

Strong international demand for Queensland goods and services is delivering real benefits for Queenslanders, with trade supporting one in four Queensland jobs.

It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy and a plan for Queensland's future, after a decade of decline under Labor.

In stark contrast, Labor's decade of decline saw international relationships left in ruins, but the State's trade agenda has been reset and businesses are thriving as a result.

From regional producers expanding into new markets, to education providers attracting students from around the world, exports are helping drive economic activity across the state.

More than forty per cent of Queensland exporters are based in the regions, and three quarters of those are small and family-owned businesses.

The Crisafulli Government assisted them in generating $341 million worth of exports, with the benefits flowing directly to the communities supported by those businesses.

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said Queensland's reputation for quality, reliability and innovation was translating into stronger export outcomes for small and family businesses.

"Labor left our international reputation in tatters, but I have made it clear that Queensland is back open for business and it's fantastic to see the world is taking note," Minister Bates said.

"We're on track to hit our $5 billion trade and investment milestone later this year which is a phenomenal result so early in this term, particularly given the volatility of the global trade environment.

"That means thousands of Queenslanders in well paying jobs and communities everywhere reaping the benefits of a thriving trade sector.

"There's a lot of uncertainty in the world at the moment, and we anticipate the environment becoming more difficult for our exporters but that's why it's so important we continue to back them and help them find new markets and opportunities.

"Growth in Latin America and Europe is helping Queensland businesses diversify and expand their international reach, and we continue to see strong results from India, China and Southeast Asia.

"We're also expanding our trade footprint to ensure that our exporters are well positioned to weather the challenges of the current global situation and come through the other side stronger than ever."
