The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for Queensland after releasing to market a landmark development opportunity that's set to transform Brisbane CBD's northern edge.
The release includes two sites totalling 8,900m² – a development-ready 5,200m² parcel and the heritage-listed Queensland Dental Hospital and College.
It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy after Labor's decade of decline, with the new sites offering the potential to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders, increase hotel bed numbers, or add to Brisbane's stock of office space under a process that will be market driven.
The release of the key sites will also provide a lucrative opportunity to deliver a thriving precinct in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As part of the project, the historical Queensland Dental Hospital and College building will be restored and re-invented, taking on a new lease on life after being vacant since 2017.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the land release would help reverse Labor's Housing Crisis and the land-locking policies that stifled economic development under their decade of decline.
"Labor ignored warnings from industry and left Queenslanders paying the price, but the Crisafulli Government is fixing Labor's mess by unlocking land and creating opportunities for economic growth," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"This site is yet another example of Labor's broken commitments to Queenslanders - five years ago they announced a new 'transformative' development yet not a single sod has been turned.
"Unlike Labor's fake media releases with no delivery, the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job of driving new development through the activation of land that has set idle for years.
"Under the LNP, Queensland is open for business and today's market release of the Turbot Street stie will unlock the opportunity for CBD revitalisation in Brisbane.
"The former Labor Government failed to progress any development on the Turbot Street site, despite promising to do so in 2020, leaving prime real estate idle for years, squandering any opportunity to deliver hotel capacity and office space, while driving up costs and stifling tourism potential.
"The Crisafulli Government is turning this around by delivering homes, jobs, and a thriving precinct in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, ensuring Queenslanders reap the benefits of this once-in-a-generation event and the legacy benefits beyond the closing ceremony."
EDQ is now seeking the right proponent with the right vision for this truly exemplary development opportunity at Turbot Street.
Proponents are encouraged to register their interest for the Turbot Street sites via EDQ's website by 5 March 2026.
The land release follows EDQ's recent release of the landmark Visy land release in South Brisbane, as well as last week's announcement to launch a major one-hectare development opportunity next to the Queensland Tennis Centre at Yeerongpilly.
