Minister for Education and the Arts The Honourable John-Paul Langbroek
  • The Crisafulli Government begins construction on new state high school and special school at Logan Reserve, to cater for south-east Queensland's growing population.
  • The schools are on target to welcome first students in 2027.
  • Queenslanders have now seen 10 months of delivering under the Crisafulli Government, after 10 years of declining education standards under Labor.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future and fresh start for the education sector, with construction underway for two new schools in Logan Reserve.

Hutchinson Builders has been awarded the construction contract to deliver a new state high school and a Prep to Year 12 special school.

The new high school will include an administration building, art and design building, Performing Arts Centre, library, multi-storey learning centre, an Industrial Technology and Design building and a multi-purpose sports centre.

The special school will feature an administration building, multi-purpose hall, junior and senior learning centres, a resource centre, canteen, music and hospitality classrooms.

The construction of both projects is expected to support more than 120 local jobs.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future with more teachers in safer schools to unleash kids' full potential and catch up with national standards.

The record $21.9 billion Education Budget will deliver 15 new schools for Queensland's growing population, including a historic investment in six special schools to provide choice to parents and help all students reach their potential.

The former Labor Government's failure to plan for future population growth and failure to properly resources our classrooms led to over-enrolled schools and a teacher shortage that left Queensland students paying the price.

Labor's decade of decline in the education sector also saw a $441 million maintenance backlog to repair and replace school assets as they reached their end of life, leaving students in deteriorating classrooms.

Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said the Crisafulli Government was delivering a plan for Queensland's future.

"We are building the new high school and Prep to Year 12 special school in Logan Reserve to meet the needs of the fast-growing Logan community," Minister Langbroek said.

"By investing in these projects, we're not just building classrooms – we're creating spaces where students can thrive, and teachers can inspire the next generation of Queenslanders.

"Our record $21.9 billion Education Budget delivers Queensland's largest special school investment in history to ensure students with higher support needs receive the specialised teaching and learning to help them thrive.

"This gives parents the choice to decide which schooling option is best for their child to ensure they reach their potential.

"The high school's multi-purpose sports centre will also provide a training hub for students ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"After 10 years of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for schools after 10 months.

"We're committed to ensuring all students can access world-class education close to home by building new schools in our State's fastest growing areas."
