Questacon's newest exhibit is now ready for young explorers following a major redevelopment of the National Science and Technology Centre's early childhood gallery.
Mini Q - where little scientists set sail is designed to ignite curiosity and foster lifelong engagement with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The redeveloped state-of-the-art gallery, supported by $3.14 million from the Albanese Government, features a coral reef climber, a mangrove water table, and the InQuestigator, a research vessel where children can become familiar with STEM careers.
Mini Q is purpose-built for children aged 0-6 and their families, providing a nationally significant offering that blends immersive play with scientific exploration, setting a new benchmark for early childhood science engagement.
Visitors embark on a STEM-filled voyage from Ngunnawal Country to Sea Country all around Australia, engaging with hands-on experiences. First Nations knowledge-sharing, cultural inclusion and connection to Country are embedded throughout the experience.
Mini Q - where little scientists set sail opens on Thursday 30 October 2025.
