Rabobank

Rabobank has announced the appointment of Oskar Mitchell to its team of Australian and New Zealand food and agri research analysts.

Based in Sydney, Mr Mitchell joins the specialist agribusiness bank's RaboResearch division, where he will be responsible for providing industry insights and market updates on farm inputs, cotton, wool and farmland values.

Announcing the appointment, RaboResearch general manager Stefan Vogel said Mr Mitchell's strong knowledge of, and experience in, agriculture, across a range of sectors, made him an ideal fit for the bank's RaboResearch division, which provides market analysis and commodity insights to clients and other stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand's food and agri sectors.

"Oskar's experience across a range of agricultural commodities, combined with his strong analytical skills and personal connection to farming, make him well placed to provide valuable support for the bank's food and agri clients," Mr Vogel said. "In particular, his expertise in interpreting complex global market information and turning it into practical insights for local producers will be highly valuable.

"Added to this, Oskar has a solid understanding of Rabobank and our clients, having spent a year's internship with the bank - as part of a Tertiary Pathways Scholarship - while he was completing his university studies."

Prior to joining Rabobank in his current role, Mr Mitchell worked as an analyst within the Market Intelligence team for Australian Wool Innovation, providing research and reporting on Australia's wool industry. He has also previously worked in the grains sector and holds a Bachelor of Agriculture Science and a Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Hons) from the University of Sydney, majoring in Animal Production and Agricultural and Resource Economics.

Mr Mitchell, who comes from a wider family farming background and grew up in rural NSW, said Rabobank's focus on agriculture and the bank's positive impact on rural communities across Australia and New Zealand had strongly attracted him to the role.

"The combination of the bank's global research capabilities and its deep local expertise across a range of commodities and markets is a real advantage. I'm very much looking forward to helping producers and agribusiness operators understand what is happening globally and what it means for them at a local level, enabling them to make better-informed decisions for their businesses," he said.

In Australia and New Zealand, RaboResearch comprises a team of specialist agri commodity and economic analysts, who are part of a network of more than 100 research analysts worldwide, focussed on providing comprehensive, leading-edge food and agribusiness and economic analysis for the bank's clients.
