RACS Alarmed by Social Media Video Behavior

The conduct shown is inconsistent with the standards set out in the RACS Code of Conduct, which requires Fellows to uphold the highest standards of integrity, respect, and professionalism-both within and outside the clinical setting.

RACS acknowledges that Professor Malham has issued a public apology. While this is an important first step, the College remains concerned about the broader impact of the behaviour given the serious implications of conduct that may be seen to trivialise or incite violence, especially towards women.

This behaviour does not reflect the values of the College or the surgical profession, and it falls short of community expectations.

"There is no place for aggression or intimidation-real or implied-in Australian public life. We remain committed to fostering a culture of respect, accountability, and safety for all," said Associate Professor Kerin Fielding, President of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
