Radioactive gauge stolen, Bundamba

Police are warning members of the public to be cautious after a device with radioactive substances was stolen from a vehicle in Ipswich.

A portable density moisture gauge (pictured) was stolen from a utility at Byrne Street at Bundamba on Tuesday.

The gauge, which was locked in a transport case, contains radioactive substances and poses a serious health risk to people if mishandled.

Detectives are investigating the incident and urge anyone who locates the item not to move the item but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
