Rain, rain go away

Barossa Council

When it rains, it pours, and that's been the case for Nuriootpa Pool where works on the pool shell have been further delayed by wet weather.

Mayor Bim Lange said the upgrade is progressing, but slowly, due to ongoing weather interruptions.

We really are at the mercy of the weather, and we want to be open with the community about how this is impacting progress."
- Mayor Bim Lange

Mayor Lange said a warm dry spell is necessary to allow cure time prior to painting the shell.

"If the weather is kind to us over the coming weeks we can get painting underway, but with more forecast rain, we are likely to see the opening of the summer swim season delayed until mid-to-late December. We know this will be disappointing but want to reassure the community we are taking every opportunity to get contractors on the ground as quickly as possible," he said.

"As with many other Council-owned outdoor pools around the State, the unpredictability of Mother Nature means we can only move as fast as these weather fronts allow."

The good news is that Williamstown Pool is anticipated to open on 1 December, and children aged 16 and under can once again swim free during school holidays.

We'll continue to provide regular updates so the community can make the most of the summer swim season.
