Rain, Storms Hit East Aus, Showers in WA

BOM
Hello, Ilana from the Bureau here with your National Weather Forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday the 30th of June. Now, tomorrow we're looking at wet weather across both sides of the country.

Through the east, we have this rain band bringing widespread falls through from western Queensland, much of New South Wales and into Victoria and Tasmania. With multiple days of widespread rainfall expected this week, we have issued a separate Weather Update video, which you can check out for some more details. Across through to the other side, we have this cold front sweeping through the southern half of Western Australia, bringing showers and storms.

Let's now take a look state by state, and we'll start in Queensland, where this rain band is bringing rain, showers and even some storms through western parts. Now that rain will extend from Mount Isa through to about Roma and will be on an easing trend later in the day. Elsewhere throughout the state, though, closer to the coast, we're still looking at some lighter onshore showers.

For Brisbane tomorrow, it will be 22 °C. We'll have partly cloudy conditions and the possibility of an isolated shower or two.

Into New South Wales, where this rain band is bringing widespread falls extending from the west and through inland parts during the day. Now our heaviest falls tomorrow are expected on the western flank of the southern ranges, including about our Snowy Mountains. Now it is important to note that we're expecting plenty of rain rather than snow tomorrow and the next few days.

Further east near the coast, we're just looking at some more isolated and lighter falls, including for Sydney, which will have a dry start to the day and then a possible shower later in the afternoon or evening. A top of 21 °C. For Canberra, though it will be a rainy day. Now that wet weather is set to begin, possibly in the late morning. Otherwise, it will ramp up in the afternoon and will have a top of 16 °C.

Into Victoria, where this rain band will bring widespread falls, particularly north of the ranges. Now our heaviest falls are expected on the northern flank of the north-east ranges here, where we could see falls of 50, even 100 mm in isolated locations. But again, we're expecting rain rather than snow, even in our alpine areas.

Elsewhere in the state, we're looking at some more scattered shower activity that will be easing later in the day. That includes for Melbourne. It will be a mild start to the day, 12 °C, a top of 17 °C with some showery activity tending to ease later into the evening.

For Tasmania tomorrow, we generally have this northerly flow as well as this trough approaching from the west. Now that is going to bring some widespread shower activity throughout northern and western regions of the state, with just more isolated activity through the east.

Now, as often occurs in this type of weather pattern, Hobart is going to miss out on the wettest weather. It'll just see an isolated shower or two and a top of 15 °C.

Through to South Australia, where this rain band will be moving out to the east. So we're really just left with some lingering isolated shower activity through eastern parts of the state. However, later in the day, we're going to start to see this next system come through from the west, bringing in some wet weather to south-western parts of the state.

For Adelaide tomorrow, we could still see an isolated shower in the early morning period. Some of those cloudy conditions will break up later in the day. We'll see a top of 17 °C.

Into Western Australia, where this cold front is sweeping through. That is going to bring shower activity all the way from the far west of the Pilbara, all the way down the west coast and across the southern half of the state. We're also looking at some isolated gusty thunderstorms through the coastal parts of the South West Land Division, extending through the south-east and even towards the Goldfields.

For Perth, it will be a rainy start to the day. We could even see an isolated thunderstorm. It will see a top of just 17 °C.

Now up in the Northern Territory, with this moisture streaming in from the north, we are looking at some isolated shower activity through the Top End as well as through eastern districts.

That includes the chance of an isolated shower for Darwin, which will see a top of 31 °C. Temperatures, particularly through the southern half of the Territory, are quite a few degrees above average. Alice Springs will see 27 °C.

That's all for our National Weather Forecast. If you'd like some
