Rape chargesin Brisbane southside

Police have charged a man who allegedly sexually assaulted three women whilst employed as a sonographer at a Brisbane medical facility.

It will be alleged that between August 2018 and June 2020, the 58-year-old man performed examinations on three women who subsequently made complaints about his conduct during the appointments at a hospital in Brisbane's southside.

Ongoing investigations by Dutton Park detectives determined the man's actions were outside the parameters of normal scan procedures.

The McDowall man was taken into custody today and charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

He has been refused bail to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (August 31).

Police are appealing for anyone who may have further information relating to other potential victims or witnesses to come forward.

The man has not worked at the hospital since June 2020.

Investigations are continuing.
