Raptor Squad charge man with outstanding warrants after firearms and illicit drugs seized

Raptor Squad have charged a man with three outstanding warrants after seizing two firearms, weapons and prohibited drugs at a home in Sydney's west.

In January this year, officers attached to the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad commenced an investigation into the activities of a criminal syndicate involved in the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.

Following inquiries, Raptor Squad, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), executed a search warrant at a home at Bossley Park last Thursday (25 March 2021).

During the search, officers located cocaine, methylamphetamine (ice), cannabis, MDMA, steroids and prescription medication.

Police also located two ballistic vests, an electronic stun device, fireworks, electronic devices and chemicals.

In a search of the backyard and granny flat, police also located a 9mm Beretta handgun, .22 revolver, ammunition and $3,250 cash.

All items seized during the investigation have been taken for further forensic examination.

Subsequently, officers commenced inquiries to locate a 26-year-old man, who was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Following investigations, Raptor Squad arrested the man at a home at Seven Hills about 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 31 March 2021).

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station and charged with three outstanding warrants and 19 additional offences including;

  • Possess unauthorised pistol (x2),
  • possess unregistered firearm – pistol (x2),
  • not keep firearm safely – pistol (x2),
  • possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority,
  • possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x3),
  • goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle),
  • deal with property proceeds of crime,
  • use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order (x3),
  • possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose,
  • supply prohibited drug indictable quantity (x3).

The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 1 April 2021).
