Raymond Island Ferry Schedule Set

East Gippsland Shire Council has confirmed the dates for this year's Raymond Island Ferry slipping and maintenance works.

To accommodate a more comprehensive maintenance program, the ferry will be out of service from Monday 10 November to Sunday 7 December 2025.

This year's works includes maintenance and full external blasting and repainting of the ferry's superstructure, essential works that haven't been undertaken in several years. As a result, the maintenance period has been extended to four weeks, compared to the usual three.

To reduce the risk of disruption over the Melbourne Cup public holiday weekend, 1-4 November, Council has shifted the start of the works to a date that is slightly later than usual.

"We'll always aim to return the ferry to service as early as possible," said Mayor Cr John White.

"But as with all major maintenance programs, timing depends on the progress and complexity of the works - and this year's works are significant."

A bus, run by the Raymond Island community volunteers, will operate to and from the water taxi landing area on the island.

A vehicle barge will be on standby for emergency use. The barge is not available as a general commuter service with limited private use available in accordance with Council's Ferry Service Charter. Emergency services will take priority.

Council aims to provide temporary parking and expects to provide an update in August.

Council will keep the community informed via SMS alerts, Council's website, social media channels and terminal signage.
