The Albanese Government welcomes the re-appointment of Ms Julie Bullas as a commissioner of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) for another three years.
Ms Bullas has over 35 years of industry experience, including in rail safety and regulation, and has been an ATSB commissioner since 2023.
During her tenure Ms Bullas has provided expert oversight of the 2024 Level Crossing Safety Study, which analysed collisions between heavy road vehicles and trains to influence national safety outcomes.
She has also represented the ATSB in discussions with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator, to reduce regulatory duplication and improve safety data sharing.
Ms Bullas' re-appointment will support continuity within the ATSB to ensure it is well placed to address safety challenges across the transport industry.
The ATSB Commission consists of four members: the Chief Commissioner and three commissioners with expertise relevant to the ATSB's functions in the maritime, aviation and rail modes of transport.
