Rebate for Cloth Nappies, Reusable Hygiene Products

The Moira Shire rebate for cloth nappies and reusable personal hygiene products is back for another year.

Reusable products, while cost-effective in the long run, can have a significant upfront cost. That's where the Cloth Nappy and Personal Hygiene Product Rebate comes in.

By offering a rebate for these items, this upfront cost is significantly reduced - and so is the volume of disposable nappies and hygiene products in landfill bins.

Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said Council wants to help families reduce their household waste.

"Disposable nappies and sanitary products add a substantial load to the household waste entering our landfill," Dr Emonson said.

"By changing to cloth nappies and reusable personal hygiene products, we can reduce our environmental footprint."

Under the rebate, residents can receive 50% of the purchase with a maximum refund of $150. For example, spend $200 and receive a rebate of $100 or if $400 is spent, the maximum return is $150.

Eligible products include cloth and swim nappies, reusable nappy liners, reusable wipes, wet bags and reusable nursing breast pads.

Reusable personal hygiene products are an increasingly popular choice for Australians, and are designed to be both safe and convenient for everyday use.

Products eligible for the rebate include washable sanitary pads and panty liners, menstrual cups, period (leak-proof) underwear and wet bags.

To apply for the rebate, you'll need a receipt from your purchase, proof of Moira Shire residence and photo ID. Then go to the Reducing Waste page on the Moira Shire website at: https://www.moira.vic.gov.au/Residents/Environment/The-World-of-Waste/Reducing-waste
