Rebecca White's Mad Mid Week Spending Spree

Liberal Tasmania
  • Michael Ferguson Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister for Planning, Member for Bass
  • Rebecca White is about to hit $2 billion in election promises after a spending spree that racked up nearly $600 million in just four hours.

First, Ms White threw $220 million at a brand new hospital, followed by $8 million for GPs, and then $362 million for infrastructure and a number of vaguely related announcements.

That's an extraordinary spend of $2.4 million every single minute. And as ever there were a number of uncosted elements to Ms White's policy announcement such as the Burnie Port.

This kind of reckless cash splash reeks of desperation, and a desperate 11th hour attempt to turn her third failed election fortunes around.

While Labor has racked up $1.975 billion in opex this campaign - and that's still rising - we have closed the books on our spending commitments as part of our 2030 Strong Plan just over $750 million.

The truth is, a Labor-led minority Coalition of Chaos would wreck the budget, hike taxes and trash the State.

Only a majority Rockliff Liberal Government will keep Tasmania strong through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.
