Recognising excellence in road works safety

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

Last night's Civil Contractors Federation Earth Awards was a celebration of a critical industry that is supporting the Hodgman majority Liberal Government to deliver our record investment in infrastructure right across the State.

This year's state budget sees record investment in the intergenerational, job creating infrastructure our growing state needs and delivering on these commitments can only be achieved with a strong civil construction sector.

Of particular note, it was fantastic to see that Hazell Bros has been recognised for its commitment to safety.

Hazell Bros is an important Tasmanian business, which has been helping deliver the Government's $500 million upgrades of the Midland Highway. Hazell Bros were awarded the Safety at Roadworks award in recognition of its works on upgrades on the Midland Highway at York Plains to St Peters Pass and St Peters Pass to south of Tunbridge, as part of the Midland Highway 10 Year Action Plan, as well as their work on the Carlton River Bridge replacement, which is currently underway on the Arthur Highway.

My wholehearted congratulations to all the winners.
