Thousands of Victorian kids are preparing to pick up their pens in 19 new schools opening in some of the state's fastest growing communities.
Acting Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll took a sneak peek at Truganina's brand new Mindalk Primary School today, where up to 575 kids will walk through the doors for Term 1 in just a few weeks.
The new school features an administration and library building, as well as three learning neighbourhoods that are home to modern classrooms. The site is also home to a community hub with spaces for music and art, hard courts and a sports field.
Importantly, Mindalk Primary School is an inclusion school with purpose-built facilities including sensory areas, accessible play spaces and wider corridors designed to support students with a disability.
Blayne Wallis is the foundation Principal at Mindalk Primary School, bringing decades of experience in teaching and leadership across several schools.
To help parents avoid the dreaded double drop off the Allan Labor Government has also partnered with Melton City Council to deliver a new kinder next to the school - with 99 places for local kids to ensure they get the best start to their education.
Mindalk Primary School is part of the Labor Government's commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 19 set to welcome students in Term 1, 2026.
As of December, there were more than 2,650 students enrolled across the 19 new schools including more than 750 preps - highlighting how important it is to keep delivering growing communities the schools they need.
The Labor Government has delivered record investment in school infrastructure - building 123 new schools and more than 2,300 school upgrades.
Other schools opening next year include Birranga College in Clyde North, Biyala Primary School in Armstrong Creek, Kolorer College in Cobblebank, Narrarrang Primary School in Port Melbourne and Marra School in Kalkallo.
