It may have been a little chilly, but the warmth of community spirit still saw Hawkesbury Fest equal its best ever turnout of 8000 visitors at Governor Phillip Park in Windsor on Sunday!
Held each year during Local Government Week, Hawkesbury Fest turns the spotlight on the important work Council and our community partners are doing in the local community.
Crowds were treated to a variety of interactive community stalls, bright and fun markets, the ever-popular emergency services displays, delicious local food and for the first time, a dedicated Sports Zone – offering local sporting clubs an unprecedented opportunity to connect with a public on a massive scale. Many local kids were also introduced to parkour for the first time with a dedicated parkour course.
A steady stream of visitors stopped by and said hello at our Council tents, learning about our projects and services including our Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants projects and child seat safety program.
The community stage was another big first for Hawkesbury Fest, with local performance groups entertaining the crowd throughout the day, including an interactive Zumba class!
Council's Events team invested a lot of time and effort making Hawkesbury Fest 2026 our most accessible event ever. This year, George Street was closed in front of the park to allow the placement of the market stalls, offering a far more accessible walking surface for visitors. There was also accessible parking, toilets and change rooms; a frequent accessible shuttle bus running from Windsor, a quiet sensory space, a quiet hour between 10am and 11am without loud music and announcements, communication boards, and a social story available before the event. The Events team are also members of the Hidden Disability Sunflower initiative.
