The 2025-26 Budget is delivering for Sunshine Coast residents with a record investment in critical infrastructure, including long-awaited funds to advance Stage 1 early works of the Mooloolah River Interchange.
Recognised as a key enabler of The Wave – an enhanced public transport system designed to support the Sunshine Coast's growing population – the Mooloolah River Interchange upgrade will improve connectivity, boost capacity, and reduce congestion across key transport routes.
This investment will enable early works to begin on the ground, marking a significant first step towards delivering a transformative infrastructure project for the Sunshine Coast.
The Budget will also deliver investment to commence work to deliver heavy rail from Beerwah to Birtinya, with The Wave providing high frequency metro style services from Birtinya through the Maroochydore CBD and onto the Sunshine Coast Airport.
Unlike Labor who failed to fund this critical project for the Sunshine Coast, the Crisafulli Government is delivering the generational infrastructure project to deliver a whole-of-network solution to meet the needs of one of Queensland's fastest growing regions.
The Crisafulli Government's Caloundra Congestion Busting Plan is delivering road upgrades across Caloundra to ease congestion hotspots, boost capacity at intersections and create additional connection roads to get Queenslander's home sooner and safe.
After more than 1,200 days of Games chaos under the former Labor Government, the Crisafulli Government's first budget delivers $4.7 billion to get on with delivering the Games with $847 million to directly fund the immediate delivery of five Games venues including Kawana's Sunshine Coast Stadium.
The Budget also delivers $10 million to rebuild the Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club, a $1 million upgrade of the Currimundi Community Hall, a $1 million upgrade of the Currimundi United Football Clubhouse amenities and $5 million to expand Gateway Care, a Caloundra-based food rescue organisation to help welfare recipients with low-cost groceries.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning and Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie said the Crisafulli Government was delivering a record investment in critical infrastructure.
"The Mooloolah River Interchange will transform the Sunshine Coast's Road network, bust local congestion, enhance safety and future proof a critical transport link for one of Queensland's fastest growing regions," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"It's one of several projects that will see the biggest transport infrastructure budget ever delivered on the Sunshine Coast.
"Unlike Labor, who spent almost a decade neglecting Sunshine Coast infrastructure projects, the Crisafulli Government is listening to Queenslanders and investing in projects designed for the future – getting Queenslander's home sooner and safe.
"Whether its upgraded transport networks, local school upgrades, better community facilities and new local infrastructure – the LNP is delivering for the Sunshine Coast."
