Recovery operation - Dundee Downs

Northern Territory Police are currently conducting a recovery operation in Dundee Downs after a vehicle reportedly crashed into the water yesterday.

Around 4:30pm, police received reports that a vehicle, allegedly carrying two people, travelling near to Six Pack Creek Boat Ramp had crashed into the water, becoming trapped.

One occupant of the vehicle self-extracted prior to the vehicle sinking, with a second passenger reportedly not being able to extract from the vehicle.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit, Water Police and general duties officers attended the scene and the vehicle remains underwater and recovery efforts are ongoing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said "This is a complex recovery effort and NT Police are yet to confirm a person remains in the vehicle.

"There are currently road blocks in place along Barramundi Drive and the Javalin Road intersections and we are urging motorists to avoid the area.

"Anyone who witnessed a white utility being driven in the area yesterday afternoon, or anyone with knowledge of those involved and how the crash occurred, is urged to make contact on 131 444 and quote reference 24017950."
