Recreational Boating Incident - Prosser River at Orford

About 2:00 pm on Sunday 23rd February 2020 an incident occurred on the Prosser River at Orford involving a recreational vessel towing children in a ski-biscuit.

The 43 year old male operator lost control of the vessel causing a 7 year old boy to be thrown from the ski-biscuit onto the shore.

Tasmania Police and Ambulance Tasmania paramedics attended the scene and treated the boy. He was transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital, via the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, where he was admitted in a critical condition. The vessel operator underwent mandatory alcohol and drug testing.

Police are asking for members of the public, who may have witnessed a white runabout with a black outboard motor and maroon bimini, and towing a ski-biscuit in the Prosser River about this time, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Orford police station on 131 444.
