- New caf and hospitality venue established in Cue thanks to Cook Government grant
- Applications for Round 8 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program open
- Cook Government committed to diversifying regional economies, local job creation
Mid West Minister Jackie Jarvis MLC has officially opened a new caf in the town of Cue - a project bringing together heritage revitalisation, tourism growth and job creation in the region.
The project was backed by a $82,763 Cook Government Regional Economic Development (RED) grant, which enabled the fit out of a new commercial kitchen adjacent to the state heritage-listed former Western Australian Bank building.
Built over a century ago during Cue's gold-mining boom, the former bank building has been thoughtfully refurbished and now forms a key part of the town's main street cultural precinct.
The addition of the commercial kitchen beside it means the town now has its only dedicated caf - offering residents and visitors a place to gather, dine and appreciate Cue's history and outback character.
Under a leasing arrangement with the Shire of Cue, a tenant operator will run the food business from the premises, providing new opportunities for jobs and economic activity in the town.
The Cook Government is investing more than $60 million over 11 years towards the RED Grants program to stimulate economic growth and development in regional Western Australia.
Round 8 of the program is open, with $5 million in grants available.
Applications close on 9 January 2026.

As stated by Mid West Minister Jackie Jarvis:
"It was fantastic to visit the historic and charming town of Cue to officially open Cue Caf.
"This project supports our government's priorities to diversify regional economies, boost local jobs and help make our regional towns vibrant places to live and work.
"By supporting local job creation, providing opportunities for small business development and strengthening hospitality services in Cue, we're helping set the community up to meet future tourism demand and opportunities."
As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:
"The Cook Government is proud that our RED grants are helping create more jobs and opportunities across our regions.
"There's still time to apply for Round 8 and this is a great chance for regional businesses and community members to seek support for local projects which make a difference to their local economy and community."
As stated by Sandra Carr MLC:
"Cue Caf will be a great asset for the town, and I congratulate the Shire of Cue and all project partners for bringing this vision to life.
"The Cook Government's RED grants have such a positive impact in our regional communities, and I encourage businesses and organisations across the Mid West and Murchison to apply."
