- Redcliffe Hospital preparing for the next stage of its major expansion project as part of the Crisafulli Government's $18.5 billion Hospital Rescue Plan.
- A competitive tender will open in the coming months for a construction partner to deliver the improved and redesigned expansion which will deliver more beds for the hospital.
- The Crisafulli Government is delivering health services when you need them, after a decade of decline under Labor.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering easier access to health services for the growing Moreton Bay community by delivering the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion, following an independent review that exposed major failures in Labor's plan. Health Infrastructure Queensland will return to market through a competitive retendering process to secure a construction partner for this significantly improved project.
It is also directly engaging with key stakeholders, including local clinicians and the architectural design team, to ensure the expansion meets the healthcare needs of the Moreton Bay community. Key features of the Hospital Rescue Plan for the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion include:
- At least 210 new overnight beds - six more than promised under Labor
- Expanded services, including maternity, endoscopy, and operating theatres
- A design focused on safety for nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers
- Optimised site use to enhance service delivery
- Additional car parking.
The procurement process is also progressing to deliver three new levels of parking at the existing multi-storey car park, with the tender officially closing last week.
The former Labor Government's plans for the Redcliffe Hospital Expansion missed critical items, suffered a budget blowout of more than $1 billion, and faced a delay of more than two years.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering the foundation of health services when you need them, with a fully funded Hospital Rescue Plan, that includes more than 2,600 extra hospital beds across Queensland. Acting Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Dale Last said the Crisafulli Government was delivering easier access to health services.
"The Crisafulli Government is committed to diagnosing, treating and healing Labor's Health Crisis," Acting Minister Last said. "The improved and redesigned Redcliffe Hospital Expansion overcomes Labor's decade of decline and addresses majors project flaws in the former government's plan for Redcliffe Hospital.
"Going back to market will ensure we invest taxpayers' money responsibly and build the health services the Redcliffe community needs now and into the future. "This work is all part of our $18.5 billion Hospital Rescue Plan to build and expand hospitals and health facilities across the State." Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley said the expansion is about supporting the community as it grows. "As a former nurse at this very hospital, I'm determined to make the hospital experience better for everyone," Ms Dooley said. "Ensuring adequate parking for patients, visitors and staff will be a huge benefit, alongside the 210 new overnight beds and other significant improvements under the Crisafulli Government's Hospital Rescue Plan for the Redcliffe Hospital."
