A man will appear in court today charged after Redfern Region Enforcement Squad investigators located more than $250,000 cash in Sydney's south last month.
Strike Force Grassy was established in 2011 by detectives attached to Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) to investigate the indoor cultivation of cannabis across the Central Metropolitan Region.
As part of ongoing investigations, Redfern RES investigators, with assistance from the Central Metropolitan Operations Support Groups (OSG), executed a crime scene warrant at a home at Laycock Avenue, Bexley North, about 12.40pm on Monday 2 August 2020.
Officers seized $209,750 from inside the premises, as well as a mobile phone and equipment consistent with the cultivation of cannabis.
A short time later, investigators executed a search warrant at a unit at Village Place, Kirrawee, where they located a further $41,640 cash.
A 40-year-old man was arrested at the Bexley North home and taken to Kogarah Police Station, where he was charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.
The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 22 September 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Grassy are continuing.
