- Cook Government welcomes start of construction on Quantum Filtration Medium's new manufacturing plant, following a $2 million investment
- More than $1 million invested in local initiatives to further diversify Collie's economy

Collie's bright future continues to develop, with construction on Quantum Filtration Medium's new manufacturing plant now underway following the Cook Labor Government's $2 million investment in the project.
Regional Development Minister Don Punch and Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns today joined Quantum Filtration Medium representatives for a ground-breaking ceremony at the site of the new facility in the Collie Light Industrial Area.
Once complete, the 1500-square-metre state-of-the-art factory will enable Quantum Filtration Medium to supercharge production of its in-demand water treatment systems. The expansion will unlock growth opportunities through the simultaneous production of Quantum Filtration Medium's signature DMI-65 water filtration media.
With the capacity to manufacture larger product volumes and to ramp up its market presence, additional operational roles are expected to be created, on top of existing positions. Local contractors will be engaged throughout the build.
In a further commitment to setting up Collie for a strong future, the Cook Government has announced more than $1 million in funding towards five initiatives, to unlock further job and business opportunities.
Through the Collie Futures Industry Development Fund, $500,000 has been allocated to the Haydar Group to support the construction of a long bay public parking facility next to the Group's new food outlet.
The parking bay will support the tourism industry by providing a place for caravans and trailers to stop when visiting Collie, creating more opportunities to enjoy the growing tourism attractions in the town.
A grant of over $216,500 will support the Collie Trails Retreat to establish eight short-term accessible holiday chalets adjoining local mountain bike trails including the Arklow mountain bike network.
The Shire of Collie will receive $100,000 through the Collie Futures Small Grants Program towards the staging of the Wellington Dam Quarry Dinner, helping further position Collie and surrounds as a tourism and culinary destination.
A $100,000 grant will also support a new dedicated pilates studio and the Folk Caf, by the same operator as Pilates by Kelly.
Buckingham Contracting have been allocated $100,000 to grow their mine site rehabilitation service through the purchase of additional equipment.
