Regional Event Recovery Fund launched

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Hospitality and Events

Regional events can now apply for up to $100,000 in funding as part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government's Regional Event Recovery Fund which has been launched today.

Tasmania is renowned for its unique home grown events which showcase all our beautiful state has to offer, while providing a vital boost to the tourism and hospitality sector.

The $1.5 million Fund delivers on our election commitment by supporting organisers to undertake activities that contribute to the sustainability of events in regional areas and encourage interstate and intrastate visitation.

Start-up and existing events held in regions across the state are able to use the funds to resource the measures required to overcome a challenge or support their organisation.

This could include assisting with marketing activities or engaging personnel to provide specialist advice in areas such as business development, risk management and evaluation measures.

The Regional Events Recovery fund is delivering on the Tasmanian Government's T21 Visitor Economy Action Plan and the PESRAC Report, to ensure we are well positioned to rebuild our visitor economy.

The Government is a strong supporter of the events sector, which has a critical role to play in restoring visitation to Tasmania and stimulating the economy following COVID-19.

I thank the industry for its hard work and resilience over the past eighteen months and I look forward to continuing to work with industry to build an even stronger and more vibrant sector for the future.
