Dept of Education, Skills and Employment

Funded through the Regional University Study Hubs program, several hubs have celebrated new graduates, including CUC Western Downs in Queensland, Uni Hub Spencer Gulf in South Australia and CUC Macleay Valley, Taree Universities Campus and CUC Southern Shoalhaven in New South Wales.

Regional University Study Hubs support students in regional and remote areas to access tertiary education without moving away from home. They provide study spaces, computers, internet and student support services.

CUC Western Downs recognised 10 graduates and was supporting 85 students as of Reporting Period 2 2025 (1 July to 31 December).

Uni Hub Spencer Gulf celebrated a record 35 graduating students - the highest number since it opened the first of its 5 sites in 2019.

CUC Macleay Valley honoured 25 graduates for 2025 and has supported 756 students since opening in 2021.

Taree Universities Campus held a graduation ceremony for 46 graduates and has supported over 700 students since its establishment.

CUC Southern Shoalhaven recognised 11 graduates, including one of the first students to enrol when the hub opened in 2021.

CUC Macleay Valley graduate Sheriden spoke about the impact the hub had on her studies.

"I was excited at the prospect of finishing my degree from home, but I was worried about the impact the move would have on my studies," Sheriden said.

"CUC Macleay Valley gave me the structure and support to stay on track. I was able to complete my law studies while being close to my family.

"I'm now working locally in my field of law, applying what I've learned in the community that raised me. That's incredibly meaningful."

In other hub news, CUC Eastern Tasmania has officially opened and is expected to support up to 129 students.

There are 56 Regional University Study Hubs located across Australia, all currently open and supporting students.

As of Reporting Period 2 2025 (1 July to 31 December), Regional University Study Hubs had over 6,400 registered students, representing a 22 per cent increase over the past year. Since the program was established, it has supported nearly 21,000 students across the country.
