Registrar appointed Magistrate of Family Court

  • Family Court Registrar Megan Wadsworth appointed Magistrate
  • Ms Wadsworth practised as a family lawyer before joining Court
  • Attorney General John Quigley is pleased to announce the appointment of Family Court of Western Australia (FCWA) Registrar Megan Wadsworth as Magistrate of the Family Court.

    Ms Wadsworth has considerable trial experience as a lawyer in the Family Court and Children's Court and has acted as an Independent Children's Lawyer.

    She was admitted to practise in Western Australia in 2003, completed articles at Healy Pynt and worked as a solicitor in the family law team at Kott Gunning until 2009.

    Ms Wadsworth became Senior Associate and then Partner at Bannerman Solicitors, before joining Perth Family Lawyers as a Senior Solicitor and then GG Legal.

    She was appointed Registrar at the Family Court in 2019.

    Ms Wadsworth is an accredited mediator who has participated in various committees at the Family Court and the development of FCWA resources.

    She fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Magistrate Paul Glass and will take up her appointment on January 3, 2022.

    As stated by Attorney General John Quigley:

    "Ms Wadsworth is held in high regard by her peers, is a strong negotiator and a committed member of the Family Court staff.

    "Over many years she has demonstrated her commitment to getting better outcomes for families and children.

    "Her contributions include development and review of legislation, training and support of her peers and improving understanding among those who need to use the services of the Family Court.

    "I congratulate Ms Wadsworth on the appointment and wish her every success in her new role."
