Registration open for MyMedicare

Australian Medical Association

Patients are now able to nominate their preferred GP under the MyMedicare system.

Patients can now register for MyMedicare and select their preferred GP, unlocking certain benefits.

Registration for MyMedicare, which is voluntary and free, opened on Sunday, 1 October. It allows patients to select their regular GP, which sends a notification to that practice and unlocks additional government funding to help them provide regular care.

While a significant number of practices have registered for MyMedicare, the AMA understands that some practices have found the process difficult. The AMA sits on a range of advisory bodies that are looking at the implementation of the MyMedicare system and members should not hesitate to share their experiences with the AMA so that we can ensure these inform its rollout.
