Renewed witness appeal for fatal hit-run in Alexandra

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses and will set up an information caravan following a tragic hit-run collision in Alexandra last year that claimed the life of a young man.

Emergency services were called to Hall Street on 16 June (2019) after a 20-year-old man was located on the road with life-threatening injuries about 12.15am.

Paramedics treated a Mount Duneed man, however sadly, he died en route to hospital.

A light-coloured Toyota Hilux, believed to have been involved in the incident was recovered.

Two men were interviewed and released from police custody on 16 June 2019.

As part of the ongoing investigation, MCIU detectives will return to Alexandra today with a collision reconstructionist.

An information caravan will also be set up on Downey Street from about midday and will remain there until midday on 26 November.
