Rensselaer is Most-Cited Institution Over 50-Year History of Most Prestigious Journal

Current and former directors of the Lighting Research Center are among journal's most-cited authors

Lighting Research & Technology is the leading international peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research on the subject of light and lighting. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, a study was published exploring the journal's bibliometric characteristics since its first issue in 1969. The research team found that Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was the most productive institution and also the most cited institution over the past 50 years.

The most cited author was Dr. Mark Rea, who served as Lighting Research Center (LRC) Director for nearly three decades, from 1988 to 2017. Dr. Mariana Figueiro, who is the current LRC Director, and Dr. John Bullough, Director of Transportation and Safety Lighting Programs, are also among the Top 10 most cited.

"Everyone at the LRC contributed to this success, in one way or another, and should be very proud of these accomplishments," said Figueiro.
