Repair work is about to start on the Ulladulla Sea Pool to get locals and visitors back in the water by the middle of October.

The pool has been closed since April 2025 following massive swells and hazardous surf conditions which caused major damage to its fencing and concrete decking.

Mayor Patricia White said the pool had been scheduled to be closed for the 2025 winter season, with this time used to engage a specialist coastal engineer to assess the full extent of the damage.

"The Ulladulla Sea Pool is a daily fixture for so many of our locals and now that spring is here, we're keen to get it patched and filled so that people can get back to enjoying their exercise," Cr White said.

"Those huge swells caused a great deal of damage, but luckily there are repairs we can make to ensure it can operate over the summer months," she said.

"Work to ensure the pool is safe and clean will start next week and is expected to take around four weeks to complete."

Remediation options put forward by engineers have been identified and include:

  • Mid-term solutions – needed to return pool to a safe and functional condition
  • Long-term solutions – optional works to make improvements to the pool structure

Council is working to ensure the longevity of the Ulladulla Sea Pool and will receive future reports and briefings to ensure it's a mainstay in the community for years to come.

Work on the Ulladulla Sea Pool will start next week and it is expected to be re-opened by mid-October, weather permitting. Keep an eye on Ulladulla's Facebook and the Swim Sport Fitness website for updates.

The Shoalhaven's second sea pool at Huskisson is also closed for maintenance due to ongoing issues with water quality. Huskisson sea pool is due to be re-opened once water quality conditions in Currumbene Creek improve.
