Clinicians can apply for new funding grants for vital medical research in Queensland from today.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Steven Miles announced $3 million is available for the first ever round of the Queensland Advancing Clinical Research Fellowships to support researchers in Queensland Health.
"Research is critical for finding new and better ways of delivering healthcare and improving the health of Queenslanders," he said.
"This new program recognises that clinician-researchers are uniquely placed to identify areas of research and will to new being put into practice where we can make a tangible impact on patient's lives.
"Up to 10 fellowships are available in this round and future rounds are expected to double the overall funding to over $6 million.
"The program is open to all Queensland Health clinicians including doctors, nurses, dentists, allied health practitioners and clinical scientists with four levels of awards to support those at different career stages.
"Applications open today and close on Friday 10 May 2019 and I encourage clinicians wishing to undertake research related to their practice to apply."
Applications will be assessed by an expert panel that will provide recommendations on the recipients.
Outcomes are expected by October 2019.
