Melton City Council is calling on residents to help choose the names for the new community services building in Cobblebank and the Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Fraser Rise.

The community services building in Cobblebank is due to open in early 2027 and will provide important health and support services for residents and opportunities for local employment in the community services area.

As part of the naming process, an earlier round of consultation was held late last year, with community members voting on their preferred naming theme - linking name to place - and providing naming suggestions.

Council is now asking the community to vote on their preferred option from a shortlist of names:

The Basalt Centre

  • Cobblebank Place
  • Cobblebank Community Hub
  • Cobblebank Connect
  • Cobblebank Community Support Centre
  • Cobblebank Community Service Centre

Council is now undertaking a similar naming process for the Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Fraser Rise. Residents are invited to vote on a preferred naming theme and put forward their own naming suggestions. A second round of consultation will take place later this year for residents to vote on their preferred name from a shortlist.

The Aquatic and Leisure Centre is due to open in 2028 and once complete, will bring together aquatic and fitness facilities, allied health services, and community meeting spaces under one roof.
