Mount Low community members, and park enthusiasts from across the city, are encouraged to have their say on the future transformation of Summergold Park.
Townsville City Council has commenced planning for the renewal of the park's playground and is prioritising design work early to streamline the budgeting and delivery process down the track.
Divisional councillor Brodie Phillips said public consultation was essential to ensure any future works at Summergold Park met community needs and expectations.
"This process is all about Council making sure it is listening to the residents who use and care about this park, and understanding what they want and need before going any further," Cr Phillips said.
"We definitely want any future improvements to be co-designed, and I encourage everyone who uses Summergold Park, or lives nearby, to take a few minutes to share their thoughts throughout this consultation period."
A northern suburbs local himself, Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto said Summergold Park was an important spot for bringing families from Mount Low and the surrounding suburbs together.
"Having well looked after parks and playgrounds is really important to our community. These spaces are a big part of what makes our city such a great place to live — they get people outdoors, enjoying our weather and staying active," Cr Dametto said.
"This future redevelopment of Summergold Park in Mount Low is part of a broader scope of works we have in progress and planned for our green spaces across the city.
"During this have-your-say period, Council wants to better understand how the park is used, what people value about it the most, and also what needs attention – please jump online and give us some feedback."
Council is seeking community feedback on the Summergold Park Playground Renewal from Monday 2 February through to Friday 6 March.
An online survey will be open during this time and will be available via Council's Have Your Say website.
Residents can also meet the Council team at an on‑site consultation at Summergold Park, Summergold Street, Mount Low, on Thursday 12 February from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.
All feedback collected will be reviewed and considered as planning progresses, with updates provided to the community.
